I hope to revive the blog shortly, with links to additional content, stories, and assorted and sundry other tidbits from the web. There is lots out there, including -- as I discovered not too long ago -- video clips of poets reading their work on YouTube (among them Kofi Anyidoho and Syl Cheney-Coker), which I hope to more systematically track down and post links to.
In the meantime, I wanted to let you know about our intention to begin publishing an Occasional Papers series on (the yes, yes, broadly cast theme of) "African poetry". This is not a venue to publish poetry itself -- there are plenty of opportunities to do this, including Little Editions Press (my own outlet for little publications).
What we are seeking are critical essays (brief or extended though in either case substantial) and reflections on all different aspects of African poetry, poets, poetic works, themes, general critical approach, reviews, etc. We will consider just about anything, though we will only publish the best.
In terms of presentation, each piece will be made available on the web as a clean, professionally formated pdf and in a hard copy version available free as a pamphlet or booklet, to be distributed at various conferences and via mail.
If you are interested in learning more or submitting a piece for consideration, watch for more here or email me.
